Watching David Lynch films feels like homework...
Let's start off by saying, I watched Blue Velvet! I loved it!
It was a very thrilling, if not unrealistic, film.
I think Jeffery reminded me a lot of a soft butch, with his little earing, senstive ways and 'Your a neat girl' line. I saw a lot of my younger self in his shoes.
Watching Jeffery get held at knife point and then made out with as someone dances on the top of a car was wonderful
It had such a nice pace and flow, and it was so cathartic seeing him weep after a traumatic event
it felt very human.
I walked out of the movie fixated on the music and imgary and contentions it had in Who's lila? and well, to myself and my friends around me.
Theres something so fun watching Blue Velvet and recommending it to a friend, seeing their reactions to this insane, erotic shit.
Which is why I was so confused and weirded out when I saw Mulholland Drive (2001) for the first time.
I'll write more about that movie when I'm in the mood... WIP for now...
